An unpardoned Christmas beetle

Postprandially torpid from feasting on leaves,
too flashy to hide
even under the eaves,
they're a seasonal feast crunched by bat, bird, and beast
and by ants who pick meat out and leave sleeves.

Den,
Not only are you real and not some bot, but your own picture of a Christmas beetle is both splendid and a much more happy scene. Your sentiments are also, wonderfully sharp. Thank you for taking the time and thought to visit and comment here.

Thanks Anna. I appreciate your kind words. Your blog is a testament to what is best about writing and moreover the vitality of the blogosphere or whatever it is called now ;-)
I happened upon another of nature’s wonders whilst working yesterday. I shall post it up now and I do hope you get a chance to enjoy its thematic flow.

Seasons best to you and yours,
Den.

PS- I can’t find a subscribe button/process on Medlar Comfits. Have I just blaséd past it?

Dear Den,
You've really touched me and I thank you most sincerely. If you only knew how few people ever come to this blog, you'd know how silly I've felt posting all these years. So what you said means so much. I don't know how to include a subscribe button. This is "Old Blogger" I think it's called, messed up by Google so much over the years that it's now "Almost Unusable Blogger". If there is a subscribe and you know how to put it on, please let me know. I see that you have a subscribe yourself but have never understood how it works. Sorry to be so ignorant.
