I've been enjoying your photos--especially the gorgeous fungi. Is "neptune's shaving brush" the name of this one? (Or is it not a fungus but something cooler?)

Alice, you're a tonic for the soul. Isn't nature beautiful? This is a puzzle to me, like most things. It was on the beach along with the usual kelp, shells, and the plague of plastic bottles. I think that, like the odd sea bean that floats in with the tide, it comes from far away, and is possibly the worn nub of a root base of a reed.
